Foundation Grant Opportunity Foundation of the Month: Timken Foundation of CantonThe Timken Foundation provides more than 45 percent of its grants to educational issues. The foundation is funded by members of the Timken family, who also operate the Timken Company. The Foundation primarily funds organizations in which Timken Company employees live and work. Specific areas of interest in the field of education include afterschool/enrichment programs; colleges & universities; community & junior colleges; education reform; technological education; minority education; preschool education; pre-college education (private and public); science/mathematics education; and special education. Recent grants have ranged from $60,000 to $330,000 and the foundation awarded more than $9 million in 2000.
