Name: Fund for the Improvement of Education (FIE) Program--Partnerships in Character Education

Administering Office: U.S. Department of Education

Program Description: This program provides grants to eligible applicants to assist in designing and implementing character education programs that teach students any of the character education components including: caring, civic virtue and citizenship, justice and fairness, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, giving, or any other topics deemed appropriate by the eligible entity, having taken into consideration the views of parents and students. The character education programs supported must be programs that can be integrated into classroom instruction, are consistent with state academic content standards, and can be carried out in conjunction with other educational reform efforts.
