Bring Home the Bacon has quickly become the listserv for busy charter school operators. The listserv allows you to communicate with other subscribers via e-mail by sending your message to one easy address. Likewise, when other subscribers send a message to the list's e-mail address, that message goes to all subscribers. This means that there may be days when you will get many e-mail messages if a topic of particular interest is being discussed on the list.
If you are already inundated with e-mail, you can subscribe to the digest version. The digest combines all of the day's individual posts into one nightly email. Many subscribers find this a convenient way to keep up with the list without receiving many individual posts.
Over the past few weeks alone, discussion topics have included updates on the status of the Carol White PEP, Counseling, and other federal grants; information about a new youth program grant; tips and suggestions on how to create a 501 (c)(3) educational organization; where to find funding for handicapped students; a discussion on what a Memorandum of Understanding is; and several other topics. New members often introduce themselves and provide some background information for the other members.
This listserv is truly a community where discussions about all kinds of school-related issues are discussed. Members include charter school operators, consultants, grantwriters, and many others.
