Ohio: Implementing Building-Based Collaborative Grants to Increase Access to and Progress in the General Curriculum for Students with Disabilities (ACCESS Grants)

Information: The purpose of this grant is to ensure that students with disabilities have access to the general curriculum aligned with Ohio’s academic content standards, regardless of the educational setting(s) in which they receive special education services and to identify and support evidence-based strategies for increased student achievement. Grants under this program priority must show evidence of student achievement, how achievement will be monitored, and how evidence of achievement will be documented. The grant funds are to assist schools in building the capacity to include children with disabilities in standards-based reform efforts designed to improve the academic performance of all children. Proposals for implementing new grants are requested from principal-led building-level teams. Teams should include family and community members who will be involved in the project. Collaboration with the local SERRC must be evident in the proposal.

Deadline: April 29, 2005

Submittal information: Go to http://www.ode.state.oh.us/exceptional_children/children_with_disabilities/pdf/PBS_RFP_guidance.pdf for grant application information.
