You can distribute press releases yourself by using the reporter contact information below. It is a good idea to call your local reporters to give them a heads up that you emailed them a press release and provide them with a very short summary of why the release is important.

Associated Press:

For Associated Press contacts go to http://www.ap.org/ and click on “Contact AP”. On the right side of this next page you can click on your state to get an address and phone number for the local branch office. If you have a story of regional significance, send your idea to a local AP bureau. The AP has a bureau in every state. Individual reporter phone numbers and e-mail addresses are not available to the public. To send a press release to AP you can email it to info@ap.org (no attachments), or see if you can get the email address of the education reporter in your state by calling your local branch office. If not, call AP’s main phone number in New York, (212) 621-1500.

Also on the "Contact AP" page, there is a section below the state information that gives specific departments, and a list of AP editors and writers. AP has over 3,500 reporters worldwide and their website only shows a few names and a short list of departments. Education is not included.
